When he began in ministry, Andy Stanley bought into two leadership myths. First, he believed that great leaders were great at everything. This led to the second myth: We should focus on improving our weaknesses rather than maximizing our strengths. It took him eight years to discover his error. Now Stanley says he understands that “great leaders aren’t great at everything.” In fact, working hard to marginally improve in our weaker areas probably isn’t what our churches or organizations need. Fully developing our strengths, he says, will be far more valuable to our churches.<\/p>\n\n
