Weekly deadline is 6:00 PM Eastern on Mondays.<\/em><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Although this movie trailer was posted in May, it was new to me: Coming in January, 2014 a movie about singer\/songwriter Rich Mullins, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NF7qbCTFja0\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">aptly titled Ragamuffin<\/a>&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;and a more recently posted trailer for a documentary exploring &#8220;the promise of evolutionary Christian spirituality,&#8221; with interviews with &#8220;a dozen leading theologians and progressive thinkers.&#8221; The 7-part DVD series is <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/71904225\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">titled Painting The Stars<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s not just a Catholic problem; a group is actively protesting to push for the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/women-seek-access-traditionally-male-only-mormon-gathering-120534071.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">ordination of Mormon women<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Just weeks before his formal installation, the President of the American Bible Society announces that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/gleanings\/2013\/october\/american-bible-society-douglas-birdsall-lausanne.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Board of Trustees has &#8220;brought [his] service to a close.&#8221;<\/a>\n<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Christians in the Middle East are hostages in the hands of Islamic forces.&#8221; &#8220;Many of Israel&#8217;s Christians feel that their history, culture, and heritage have been hijacked by Muslim Arabs in the region.&#8221; Read more at this <a href=\"http:\/\/israelseen.com\/2013\/10\/05\/we-are-not-arabs-we-are-christians-who-speak-arabic\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">report from a recent conference<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Sometimes in the quest to free ourselves from the constraints of religion, we discover we&#8217;ve simply <a href=\"http:\/\/losingmyreligionblog.com\/food-for-thought\/swapping-form-religion\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">immersed ourselves in a different form of religion<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Thanks to Canadian blogger <a href=\"http:\/\/eclecticchristian.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Bell<\/a>, I was finally able to track down data on <a href=\"http:\/\/hirr.hartsem.edu\/megachurch\/canadian-megachurches.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">megachurches in Canada<\/a>, a much shorter list than its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hartfordinstitute.org\/megachurch\/database.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. counterpart<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>1-Source, a collaboration of four Christian publishing companies will offer titles by established authors like Bill Myers and Brandilyn Collins, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publishersweekly.com\/pw\/by-topic\/industry-news\/religion\/article\/59356-collaboration-leads-to-new-christian-self-publishing-company-1source.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">as well as self-publishing<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>David and Goliath becomes the theme of a TED Talk, but this explanation of the story is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/malcolm_gladwell_the_unheard_story_of_david_and_goliath.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">a little different from the one we know<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Essay of the Week: From right here at Christianity Today, Andy Crouch on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/ct\/2013\/october\/andy-crouch-its-time-to-talk-about-power.html?order=&amp;start=1\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the power we confer to those in church leadership<\/a> and why it matters.<\/li>\n<li>Find of the Week: Christian cartoonist <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/THEWesMolebash\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Wes Molebash<\/a> whose adventures with JP and Miles at the fictional Paper City Church make up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.insertimg.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the comic Insert Image<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Retort of the Week: Russell D. Moore responds to Pope Francis&#8217; recent interview with an Italian journalist and the danger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bpnews.net\/BPFirstPerson.asp?ID=41206\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">severing the love of God from the holiness of God<\/a>&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;while Shane Claiborne <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redletterchristians.org\/remembering-francis\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">remembers the original Francis<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>There is so much to read at the blog of Samantha Field that it&#8217;s hard to just link to one post, but here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/defeatingthedragons.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/11\/15-things-not-to-say-to-a-recovering-fundamentalist\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">15 things you shouldn&#8217;t say to a recovering Fundamentalist<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Apologetics in part involves responding to Christianity&#8217;s critics, and these are <a href=\"http:\/\/wellspentjourney.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/01\/devastating-arguments-against-christianity-courtesy-of-the-internet\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">some interesting responses<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>One year ago at this time, I was crusading to get a classic book on the <a href=\"http:\/\/paulwilkinson.wordpress.com\/2012\/10\/04\/how-i-singlehandedly-with-gods-help-of-course-got-a-book-back-in-print\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">history of teaching about the Holy Spirit<\/a> put back in print.<\/li>\n<li>Typology: &#8220;So [Mommy\/Daddy], [was\/is] [name of prominent figure] a good guy or a bad guy?&#8221; Sometimes <a href=\"http:\/\/tonywoodlief.com\/2013\/09\/20\/good-guy-or-bad-guy\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the answer is a bit of both<\/a>.
