{"id":34971,"date":"2024-04-25T12:08:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-25T12:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/pastors\/preaching\/sermon-illustrations\/only-13-are-actively-engaged-at-work\/"},"modified":"2024-04-25T12:08:00","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T12:08:00","slug":"only-13-are-actively-engaged-at-work","status":"publish","type":"sermon-illustrations","link":"https:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/pastors\/preaching\/sermon-illustrations\/only-13-are-actively-engaged-at-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Only 13% Are Actively Engaged at Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gallup once polled people in 142 countries to respond to a series of statements designed to measure employee engagement&mdash;involving matters like their job satisfaction, whether they felt their work was important, and whether they had opportunities in the workplace to learn and grow.<\/p>\n\n<p>What the polling firm found was that engagement is the exception, not the rule: Worldwide, 13% of employees were engaged at work, while 63% were not engaged and 24% were &ldquo;actively disengaged,&rdquo; meaning they were unhappy and unproductive. Engagement rates were highest in the United States and Canada, and lowest in East Asia.<\/p>\n\n<p>Gallup noted, &ldquo;About one in eight workers &hellip; are psychologically committed to their jobs and likely to be making positive contributions to their organizations.
