Don't Just Do Something … This Week's Theme: Tuning in to God

Key Bible Verse: Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). Bonus Reading:Revelation 3:19-22
When God speaks to me, I don't hear an audible voice, although sometimes in my head God's voice sounds like my voice. I'm not saying I'm God or anything. Don't think that for a second. God's voice is just a thought that comes into my mind, and when it does, I realize I couldn't have figured out that thought by myself. Because it's not like I am contemplating or studying: it just comes to my mind so quickly. And when it comes, plenty of times I've said, "Oh, man! God's answer's so simple, why didn't I think of this a long time ago?"
God wants us to communicate with Him because He has a great plan for our lives. For us to fulfill that plan, we have to hear what He's saying and what He's calling us to do. Prayer sometimes consists of sitting down and just being quiet and listening.
You know how people say, "Don't just stand there, do something"? I believe God is telling us, "Don't just do something, stand there." God wants us to be quiet sometimes and just meditate. We have to listen before we can learn and obey.

Respond:
Can I say that I have heard God's voice?
Thought to Apply:
The trouble with nearly everybody who prays is that he says "Amen" and runs away before God has a chance to reply.
