 Weekend Wrap-Up Theme of the Week: Is Your Church User-Friendly?
Saturday, July 4, 2009
 1 of 1

The apostle Paul's passion for the message of the gospel was matched by his drive to reach out to people. In his first letter to the believers in Thessalonica (2:5, 8, & 11) he asks them to recall with him how he didn't just pretend to be their friend, but came to love them and share his own life with them, and to treat them as his own children. In today's passages he explains why this welcoming openness to others is so important.
Interact with God's Word
Rom 15:7-9; 2 Cor 4:15
- How has Christ accepted you? (See Luke 5:3-32; 15:1-2; John 1:10-12)
- Why does your acceptance of other into your fellowship add to God's glory?
- How did Jesus fulfill the promise God had made to the ancestors of the Jews?
- How were the Gentiles included among those for whom the Messiah was revealed? (See Genesis 12:3; Isaiah 11:10)
- Why (2 Cor. 4:15) is receiving more people into the church a way of increasing the glory God receives?
Spend Time in Prayer
Ask God to use you to help make your church a place where people of all backgrounds feel welcomed, accepted, and included.
Rom 15:7-9; 2 Cor 4:15
Rom 15:7 Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory. 8 Remember that Christ came as a servant to the Jews to show that God is true to the promises he made to their ancestors. 9 He also came so that the Gentiles might give glory to God for his mercies to them. That is what the psalmist meant when he wrote:
"For this, I will praise you among the Gentiles;
I will sing praises to your name."
2 Cor 4:15 All of this is for your benefit. And as God's grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.
