Key Bible Verse: I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. (Jeremiah 29:11, CEB)

Dig Deeper: Jeremiah 29:1-14

Hope gives birth to dreams, which creates momentum. I often tell [Christian] leaders, "Momentum attracts support. It leads to personal renewal, relational renewal, and organizational renewal. Momentum and vision keep your ministry future-focused."

Hope sparks dreams, and dreams bring into existence some incredible initiatives. Martin Luther King Jr. had enough hope to dream of better days ahead for every person who had faced discrimination. Carolyn Koons, a professor at Azusa Pacific University, launched the largest student mission in the world because she believed that God had better days ahead for every under-resourced person in northern Mexico.

Last year, the high school kids in our church had a dream to build a child survival program in Dandora, Kenya. These kids raised $50,000 and sent it to Kenya. The year before, some students heard about a homeless couple with three children living outside of Mexicali, Mexico. Their youngest child had died of exposure. Our students went to Mexicali and built this family a home. That family is now in a [house] because a group of high school students had a dream that the world could be a better place for [this family]. Those kinds of dreams don't happen without hope.

My Response: What is a dream I have for my family, church, workplace, or community?

Thought to Apply: We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope. —Martin Luther King Jr. (pastor, civil rights activist)

Prayer for the Week
Heavenly Father, I pray for people in my life who are drowning in discouragement. Show me how I might reach out to them and offer them hope for a better tomorrow and a better eternity.
