Kids of the Kingdom
Humor from our readers.

Obey … or Else!
Our 6-year-old daughter, Lori, was studying 1 Samuel 15:22—"To obey is better than sacrifice"—for her Bible memory course. One day as she observed her 3-year-old sister, Kristi, being disobedient, she immediately applied the verse in her interpretation. "Kristi," she admonished sternly, "if you don't obey, you will be sacrificed!"

—Luella Bredin, Prince Edward Island, Canada

Spare Ribs?
My husband sat down at the dinner table the other day and said, "Well, the television news just reported that someone found the bones of Jesus." As I rolled my eyes, my 15-year-old daughter, Jilli, got a puzzled look on her face and said, "You mean He has an extra set?"

   —Paula Lindstam, Anchorage, Alaska

Youthful Prayer
Before putting my 6-year-old daughter, Katie, to bed, I told her, "Don't forget to ask God in your prayers to bless Grandma and let her live to be very, very old."

Oh Mom," Katie replied, "Grandma is old enough, so I'd rather pray for God to make her young!"

   —Anita Boye, Englishtown, New Jersey

Baby Unplugged
My neighbor Amy brought over her newborn daughter, Mary Kate, to meet us. Nathan, the baby's proud 6-year-old brother, came along too. As we complimented Amy and doted over Mary Kate, Nathan joyfully announced, "Yes, and she's lost her extension cord now too."

   —Phyllis Furtado, Bakersfield, California
