Culling veteran singers from Southern gospel staples like The Crabb Family and Ernie Haase + Signature Sound, Canton Junction lives up to its monikers’ loose translation: “Where good things meet.” Drawing from wide-ranging vocal and production talents, Aaron Crabb, Tim Duncan, Michael Sykes, and Matthew Hagee infuse a two-volume set with gospel greats (“Dig a Little Deeper”), modern worship (“The Inviting Christ”), historic hymns (“Coming Home”), and American standards (“Smile”) encased in solid country tracks and earthy vocal goodness. It’s all a bit too modern for Southern gospel, but too country for CCM. Still, an exemplary recording within the wide genre of “inspirational country.”
