Light Up the Sky

Light Up the Sky

Columbia (USA)

September 14, 2010

Top tracks: “Light Up the Sky,” “Say It Now,” “We Won’t Give Up”

The Afters’ latest is a textbook example of inspirational Christian rock. But as predictable and calculated as it may be, Light Up the Sky hits all of the necessary marks of an unrelentingly uplifting album. The sunshine-y songs feature bright guitars, straightforward teeny-bopping rhythms and worshipful lyrics, following the CCM formula to every detail. These tunes are pre-packaged to be featured all over popular media; don’t be surprised if you hear them in movie trailers for upcoming romantic comedies.
