Gideon Strauss: Discipleship Practices for Pastors

How can a pastor offer discipleship for those who work in vocations with which the pastor is unfamiliar?

Leadership Journal December 22, 2014

There are two starting points for pastors who are trying to offer a faith/work discipleship to those whose vocations are outside the pastor's realm of familiarity. First, a pastor can (and should) enter into the lives of those in his community. Second, a pastor should also let go of being the only discipler in his community. Letting go, Gideon Strauss says, allows pastors to identify key discipleship leaders within the church and to enable those leaders to engage in a meaningful ministry opportunity.
