Love for Enemies

In the nineteenth century, missionaries went to give the gospel to African cannibals. Some missionaries were eaten. When Bishop Hamington was devoured in Uganda, his two sons went to replace him. Eventually they baptized and gave communion to men who had digested their own father's flesh. These men told the sons that the bishop, while being led to his death, repeated unceasingly Jesus' words, "Love your enemies."
