H.B. is the pastor of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida. Before coming to Shiloh, H.B. succeeded his late father as pastor of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles. He is also a columnist for Leadership Journal.

He is the author of It Happens After Prayer, On Preaching, and The Difference Jesus Makes, and is the host of The On Preaching Podcast.

H.B. and his wife, Crystal, have three children (H.B. III, Natalie, and Hailey).
