The Day of Death and Triumph

James Guthrie, the Covenanter, woke up in the condemned cell on the morning of his execution. His servant was weeping, and he said, "Stop that at once. This is the day that the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." This is what Perpetua said when they took her out into the arena to be killed by the beasts: "This is my day of coronation."
