Love Is More than a Padlock on a Bridge

For years people (mostly tourists) have been writing their initials on padlocks and locking them to the famed Pont de Arts Bridge in Paris, throwing the key into the Seine River below. Over one million locks have been attached to the bridge. What a beautiful picture of love, you say? Well, actually, all of this "love" is starting to weigh the bridge down to the tune of 45 tons. So city officials, who have a less than romantic view of the bridge, sent in workers with bolt cutters to lighten the load, forcing would-be love birds to go attach their lock to other bridges.

Possible Preaching Angle:

We all know that Scripture has a less "romantic" view of human love. Sure, it's wonderful, but it also goes deeper than padlocks on bridges. It's about keeping your vows, loving the unlovable, and when it comes to loving God, Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commands."
