With eight Grammies, an Oscar nomination, a discography of best-sellers, contributions to major films, and his own Hollywood Walk of Fame star, Andraé Crouch is famous for his impactful songwriting—the driving force behind Journey. Initiating a gospel block party, the living legend enlists super studio players and some of the world’s most respected soul singers (Chaka Khan, Kim Burrell, Marvin Winans) to concoct a tracklist of R&B, retro-soul, and classic contemporary gospel, a genre he helped found. Though some may desire a more vocal Crouch presence throughout, relying on the talents of his cohorts to interpret his infectious song structures proves his masterful musicianship.
