Shara Worden used to perform as one of Sufjan Stevens’ Illinoisemakers; these days, she performs as My Brightest Diamond, a gig that has won her acclaim and supporting slots with everyone from The Decemberists to Son Lux. All Things Will Unwind is a fittingly mysterious name for her new album, which continues to meld classical inflections with art-pop and balances playfulness and whimsy with musical complexity and lyrical introspection. At times it comes off as a bit of an affectation—but it’s pretty tough to hear her hopeful and happy songs about motherhood as anything but genuine.
