Top Tracks: “Like a Sunday,” “The Sea and the Sound,” “Hearts of Everyone”
Magnets and Ghosts finds Collective Soul guitarist Dean Roland teaming up with studio hand Ryan Potesta in an all new side-project. Piano and acoustic guitar anchor many of the numbers on this eclectic yet consistent 11-track collection. MAG don’t shy away from opposites in their music; “I Want You” is a lively, gospel-influenced number with handclaps and group chants, while “Half-Awake” and the title track use soft, evocative vocals and dreamy, drone-y instrumentation. Meanwhile, fans of Roland’s main band will be pleased with straight-forward rockers like “Hearts of Everyone” and “Like a Sunday.”
