Jim Caviezel, Guillermo Del Toro, Guys and Dolls, a Danish Western, and Shaun the Sheep gets a feature film.

Principal photography began this week on When the Game Stand Tall, a movie about a high school football coach who leads his team to an unparalleled series of victories by teaching his players to focus on faith and character building. Jim Caviezel (from The Passion of the Christ) fame will star in this adaptation of the best-selling book of the same name, all based on a true story. Read more details here.

HBO is getting into the manga game. The network is teaming with Guillermo Del Toro to produce Monster, a thriller about a doctor on the hunt for a dangerous 12 year old sociopath. Steven Thompson, who has worked on the hit shows Doctor Who and Sherlock, will co-write the series with Del Toro. Read more info here.

Fox has nabbed the rights to the classic Guys and Dolls and wants Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play the roles that Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando made famous in this lighthearted musical about love and gambling. Read more details here.

Maybe you’ve been a fan of Shaun the Sheep ever since his first appearance in Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave, or perhaps you were introduced to the charming creature through his hit TV series, Shaun the Sheep (available on Netflix). The Danes are making a Western. Mads Mikkelson and Eva Green (Casino Royale co-stars) will star The Salvation, a film about a settler who kills a murderer and angers a vicious gang leader. Kristian Levring, a signatory signatory of the Dogme95 pact, is directing. Read more here.
