The Academy Award-winning Silver Linings Playbook (2012) is streaming on Amazon this weekend. This rom-com/drama follows Pat (Bradley Cooper), who is charged with bipolar disorder after beating up his wife's lover. The film begins as he's being released from the psych ward. Determined to win back his wife, he makes a deal with the recently-widowed Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence). He'll help her with her dance competition if she helps him get his wife back. Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress for this film.

Before you go see the yellow minions on the big screen for their sequel, go watch the first Despicable Me installment, now streaming on Amazon. Super villain Gru (Steve Carrel) finds his evil mission to steal the moon complicated, and his life changed forever, when three orphan girls decide he would make a good dad. Hilarious and quotable, this animated comedy is an excellent choice for the family. And keep an eye out for Despicable Me 2, in theatres July 3.

Season 2 of Game of Thrones has recently been added to Netflix. The critically-acclaimed HBO television drama is an epic (and often graphic) fantasy series in which noble families clash over control of the mythical continent of Westeros. An adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin, the show has been widely successful and garnered a loyal fandom. Lead actor Peter Dinklage has won several Emmys and a Golden Globe for his performances. The show was recently renewed for a fourth season.

If you're into Spanish films, anthropology, or Chilean folklore—or maybe just adding an obscure Sundance film to your repertoire—check out the Spanish biopic Violeta Went to Heaven (2011), which is streaming on Hulu this weekend. Directed by Andres Wood, the film follows the life and story of famed Chilean musician and folklorist, Violeta Parra, and is based on a biography written by Violeta's son. The film won the World Cinema Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
