Tom Nelson: The Good Samaritan

Neighborly love requires Christlike compassion and financial capacity.

Leadership Journal June 15, 2015

Drawing from Jesus' teaching in Luke 10, Tom Nelson posits that the story of the Good Samaritan is not only a story about showing compassion for your neighbor, but also a vital lesson in having the financial capacity to do so. Without economic flourishing, is true human flourishing possible? Tom also suggests that the Sunday to Monday gap is quite larger than we had initially imagined. He wonders: What is the church doing to answer the call of the unemployed and underemployed in a culture where work and jobs matter?
