Editor’s Note from July 26, 1974

By the time this issue reaches your home, the Lausanne congress on world evangelization will be over. I hope we shall have a full report on the congress in our August 16 issue, and I plan to write a more detailed analysis for a later issue.

We know that the world will be evangelized before Christ returns. We know that we live in an extraordinary era in which the means for finishing the Great Commission are at hand. We lack only a sufficient number of dedicated Christians, energized by the Holy Spirit, to seize the opportunity and take advantage of the modern marvels of communication and transportation to get the job done. Pray that God will raise up a host of believers for this purpose.

Friend wife and I attended the Bill Gothard seminar here in the Capital area. I had a long lunch with him at which we discussed matters of educational philosophy as well as his Institute in Basic Youth Conflicts. We are fully agreed that Christian higher education must concern itself with developing Christian character and must do this by curricular changes. Bill is doing a great work, and many lives have been transformed.

I am sorry to report the death of long-time contributing editor Bishop Arthur J. Moore (see News, page 40), a great friend and supporter of CHRISTIANITY TODAY.
