News Briefs: May 20, 1996

Evangelism Explosion (EE) has become the first Christian ministry to establish programs in all 211 nations of the world. Founded in 1962 by D. James Kennedy, EE trains Christians through 16-week clinics in local churches. EE has used various techniques to spread the gospel in closed countries, including renaming the clinics picnics as well as training local Christians who later return to their own countries.
Outspoken evangelical journalist Nathaniel Cushing Nash was among the 35 victims of the April 3 plane crash in Croatia in which U.S. Commerce Secretary Ron Brown died. Nash, 44-year-old Frankfurt bureau chief for the “New York Times,” had organized Bible studies for journalists and spent his vacations doing missionary work in Colombia.
