Market Gobbles Up Veggie Tales

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, the computer-animated stars of the Veggie Tales children’s video series, have sold 3 million units with titles such as Josh and the Big Wall and Rack, Shack, & Benny since their 1993 debute.

Bob and Larry have also spawned a merchandising explosion. Their colorful images now appear on hats, neckties, games, puzzles, and stationery.

Two “Veggie Tales” episodes are now selling in general merchandise outlets such as Wal-Mart, Kmart, and Target and have become two of the nation’s ten bestselling children’s videos. In May, Where’s God When I’m S-s-scared? climbed ahead of all other children’s videos except Sesame Street’s Elmopalooza.
