The Threshingfloor is just as ominously country-gothic as previous Wovenhand albums, only now with a greater diversity of musical ethnicity. David Eugene Edwards continues writing lyrics that blatantly reveal a faith in the God of the Bible, but his music has never sounded so worldly. In fact, the Native American and eastern Indian sounds that Edwards has invoked here give the album a downright eclectic aesthetic. Still Edwards sings, “It is his spirit, it is his fruit. Lord Jesus, come bestow belief.”
