After Emily Dickinson
So, spin the polyphonic song,
thrush after thrush, in one cord bound –
the feathered frays held by this centre
are gathered in a single sound.
Then lose your way, but leave small traces –
thread after thread entwined in blue.
Celestial crash! These rivers braided –
One harmony requires two.
