Gordon MacDonald Diagnosed with Brain Tumor

Noted pastor and author reveals ‘difficult news’ from doctor.

Christianity Today August 16, 2013

Denver Seminary chancellor Gordon MacDonald says he has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

"A few days ago my doctor called me," MacDonald writes in Leadership Journal, CT's sister publication. "'Gordon, this is Doctor B. I have some difficult news for you. There's a tumor in the back of your head in the lining of the brain.'"

MacDonald says the tumor is not cancerous, but he will undergo surgery to remove the mass within the next few months.

"I may be concerned and cautious," MacDonald writes, "but I am not inclined to be fearful! Exclamation point."

MacDonald has served as Denver Seminary chancellor since 2011, and is author of Going Deep: Becoming a Person of Influence. He also serves as an editor-at-large for Leadership and writes on topics such as generosity, cultivating spiritually deep Christians, and how to be a pray-er.
