Christian relief organizations are struggling to get aid to earthquake victims in Myanmar.

Police have finished their two-year investigation into a Nashville school shooting. They found the shooter wasn’t angry at Christians but wanted to kill children to become famous.

Former MLB pitcher Josh Lindblom had to unlearn a utilitarian view of faith in sports.

Behind the Story

Reporters and editors are people who love questions. We ask them in planning meetings and interviews with sources and rounds of fact-checking. Our work depends on our curiosity.

And we expect that our readers are curious too. They come to Christianity Today wondering about breaking news, developing stories, and difficult topics. They may be asking, “How does faith inform how I approach a particular hot-button issue?” or “How are ministries around the world offering help and hope in places of great need?”

Sometimes we get a glimpse of the very specific questions that lead people to our work, such as “what is mike pence doing now,” “what church does trump attend,” “what is christian nationalism,” or “is jordan peterson a christian.”

Those are some of the top Google search queries that referred internet users to our site in the past few months. It can be interesting to see exactly what questions are taking off more broadly as we think about ways to provide trustworthy reporting and thoughtful commentary to help seekers find some answers.

Even amid scandals, cultural shifts, and declining institutional trust, we at Christianity Today recognize the beauty of Christ’s church. In this issue, you’ll read of the various biblical metaphors for the church, and of the faithfulness of Japanese pastors. You’ll hear how one British podcaster is rethinking apologetics, and Collin Hansen’s hope for evangelical institutions two years after Tim Keller’s death. You’ll be reminded of the power of the Resurrection, and how the church is both more fragile and much stronger than we think from editor in chief Russell Moore. This Lent and Easter season, may you take great courage in Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:18—“I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”
