Why We Choose Hope

Unanswered prayer doesn’t mean God isn’t listening. But it could mean that he’s asking us to wait.

Today Heather shares a devotional that reminds each of us of the place of hope. She says hope is how she gets out of bed in the morning. Hope is how she leans into the tensions of this life. It requires our vulnerability, but it also provides us with strength to keep going.

Heather will be bringing you one more meditation next week to close out 2023. We hope these devotionals have challenged your minds, encouraged your hearts, and strengthened your hands.

Today’s Scriptures, as rendered in the Christian Standard Bible, are Genesis 14:14 and Philippians 4:12:

  • “When Abram heard that his relative had been taken prisoner, he assembled his 318 trained men, born in his household…”

  • “I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need.”
