As a believer in a literal six-day creation and only in what I believe is called "micro-evolution" (as opposed to the water-to-land-to-monkeys-to-man brand of evolution taught in schools, could you give me a sample of a "third, fourth" alternative explanation that is backed by the Bible, (which if it is God's word, I doubt he would relate the creation story in a way that is un-scientific)? Sorry for the run-on.

It is unfortunate that most Americans, Christian or not, have almost no sense of the real issues within the "creation-evolution debate." That's purposely in quotes because the DISCUSSION or INQUIRY is not a simple two-position one. To the extent biological evolutionary theory is based on crass scientism, it is flawed (and some of it's theorists ARE more open than that). To the extent creationists ignore, cherry-pick, or are just lazy about data from good observation and the "scientific process" (not anti-biblical in itself), they do themselves and the world a great disservice. Let's not be reacting so much AGAINST positions we are afraid of or poorly understand, and stay open, searching for the BEST ways to account for ALL the data. Some of the most open, best minds ARE constructing third, fourth, and more alternative explanations that will do much more toward deeper understanding and mature spirituality than continual us-them debates which resolve nothing and benefit neither camp.
