When CT's music critics had narrowed down the list of candidates for the year's best albums, a trend seemed to be emerging, prompting one of our critics to say, "We seem to be kind of a country bunch, don't we?" Well, it's certainly a country/bluegrass flavored list, but standing alone at the top is indie veteran Josh Garrels, who spent 18 months working on what would become CT's Album of the Year—only to end up giving it away. ALSO to DAN FREDERICKS, And how could I forget Leigh Nash 2011 album Hymns and Sacred Songs! Yet, getting to the crux of your post, just because an album is not made up of hymns does not mean that the songs are not biblically/spiritually based.

Interesting list. Funny that only 3 of the top 12 artists (Sara Groves, Gungor and Burlap to Cashmere) get any airplay on the majority of "Christian" music stations. I don't know if this is an indictment of the reviewers lack of breadth in this area or of the quality of music that gets played on the majority of "contemporary Christian" stations. Probably some of both!
