Palestinian Christian Elias Freij, 80, died March 29 in Jordan. Freij, a Greek Orthodox, was one of the first Palestinians to call for a negotiated settlement with Israel 21 years before the Israeli-Palestinian peace accord in 1993. He served as the mayor of Bethlehem from 1972 to 1997, and he became the first minister of tourism for the Palestinian Authority in 1994.

The National Bolivian Evangelical Association has filed suit to stop the government from enforcing a resolution issued by the vice minister of Foreign Relations and Worship. The resolution states that churches “cannot carry out unauthorized acts geared toward proselytism, propaganda, or collecting funds.”

Thanks in large part to U.S. evangelical publishing houses, more than 15,000 African pastors have received basic libraries containing 40 books each to help them in ministry. The books have a total value of $1,125,000, but the pastors needed only to pay the equivalent of $75 for the sets to offset the cost of mailing and distribution.

—CBInternational will relocate its headquarters to Denver from Wheaton, Illinois, next year. The mission agency has 41 staff members and works with Conservative Baptist missionaries.
