North AmericaDavid J. Gyertson has been named president of Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, effective July 1. Gyertson, who has served as president of Asbury College, succeeds Jay Kesler, Taylor’s president for the past 15 years. Kesler will remain with the university as chancellor.Ray Shive has been named the sixth General Director of Fellowship International Mission in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The missions agency began its work in 1950 in North Africa.After eight years of dialogue, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Moravian Church in America celebrated full communion in January in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Moravian Church, or Unitas Fratrum, is considered the oldest of the Reformation churches, tracing its origins to the teachings of John Huss, a forerunner of the Reformation.Jim Ball is the new executive director of the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN). More than 19 evangelical organizations are affiliates of EEN, which was founded in 1993.Steve Hayner, 51, has announced he is leaving InterVarsity, where he has been president for 12 years. Hayner has no immediate plans for the future, but says he will stay with the organization until a successor is chosen.
