Armed with a dusty acoustic guitar, a smoky voice, and understated production, Brant Christopher could very well be a dedicated T Bone Burnett fan. But as a Florida-based indie artist, he’s still ascending the coffeehouse and club circuit with an ear-catching blend of folk, blues, and roots-drenched pop that sounds like a contemporary version of the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack, crossed with today’s most pensive tunesmiths. A message of social activism, particularly the issue of modern-day slavery, adds to his authenticity and urgency.
