Online streaming services are in full swing for October, also known on the Internet as a whole month of Halloween. Both Netflix and Amazon Prime have loaded up on horror movies, including the Scream series, the 2013 remake of Carrie, and the most recent seasons of Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries. You can take a look at CT’s review of Carrie here as well as a CT interview here with horror movie director Scott Derrickson from a few years ago on why horror is a great genre . . . for Christian filmmakers?

This week the CW expanded its ranks of comic book TV shows as The Flash joined Arrow and Gotham in the network’s DC superhero universe. Hulu subscribers can keep up with the super-speedy hero every week. You can read The Hollywood Reporter’s optimistic first take on the show here.

There are a lot of fun releases to both Amazon Prime’s and Netflix’s collections of films for kids this week. Two notable additions are the 1996 goofy classic Space Jam to Amazon Prime and the 2014 cartoon version of The Boxcar Children to Netflix. Also added to Netflix is the original Annie in time for some nostalgic re-watches in time for the remake premiering this Christmas. You can watch a trailer for the updated Annie here.

Netflix added another classic this week, Finding Forrester, starring Sean Connery as a reclusive successful writer past his prime who finds an unexpected protégé in a star student from the Bronx, played by Rob Brown. Roger Ebert’s review of the film is here.
