We reported that CHRISTIANITY TODAY was awarded four first places, a second place, and a third place by the Evangelical Press Association. Kudos to my colleagues and contributors whose work was thus honored. Staff members Edward Plowman, John Lawing, and Cheryl Forbes and our former news editor Russell Chandler were among the winners. Copy editor Carol Griffith should take a bow also.

By the time readers receive this issue, our board member Billy Graham will have completed a special trip to Ireland. We will carry a report on his journey for peace. Mr. Graham was to preach at Queen’s University, appear on TV, address breakfast meetings, and meet with the governor of North Ireland, the prime minister of Ireland, and two Roman Catholic archbishops. We pray that this trip will help to heal this strife-ridden land.

Our book hound Donald Tinder’s title has been changed from assistant editor to book editor, to indicate his primary responsibilities.

Managing editor David Kucharsky represented us in Moscow during the President’s visit there. His first reports appear in this issue. We hope to include in the next issue a special section in which Mr. Kucharsky will describe and interpret the religious situation behind the iron curtain.
