Is the Sky Really Falling?

Trump’s fourth indictment, the Maui fires, and a TikTok video gone wild.

This week on The Bulletin, hosts Mike Cosper and Nicole Martin talk with New York Times columnist David French about former president Trump’s fourth indictment and the unfortunate fame of Tiffany Gomas, the subject of an inadvertently viral TikTok video. The trio reaches deep beyond the headlines to coax out the fears we bring to the voting booth (if we show up at all) and the hope that is possible when we reject conspiracy theories in favor of the fruit of the Spirit. CT’s global managing editor, Morgan Pōmaika‘i Lee, joins the conversation to talk about the recent Maui fires and how music offers connection and solace for communities through hard times.

Joining us this week: David French joined The New York Times as an Opinion columnist in January 2023. Before that, he was a senior editor at The Dispatch, which he helped start, and a contributing writer at The Atlantic. He spent most of his career as a practicing lawyer, working in both commercial and constitutional litigation. In his late 30s, he joined the United States Army Reserve as a judge advocate general. David deployed to Iraq in 2007 and served in Diyala Province, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. During his legal career, he litigated in federal courts from coast to coast and served as a lecturer at Cornell Law School. He is a former president of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. David’s most recent book is Divided We Fall: America’s Secession Threat and How to Restore Our Nation.

Morgan Pōmaika‘i Lee serves Christianity Today as global managing editor, where she leads teams of writers from around the world. She is the former host of CT’s inaugural podcast, Quick to Listen.
