Denise George

Denise George is a full-time writer and speaker. She is author of 22 books, including Our Dear Child, Cultivating a Forgiving Heart, Weathering the Storms, and her latest book, What Women Wish Pastors Knew. She also has written articles for 90 different publications including Christianity Today, Decision, Guideposts, Catholic Digest, Lutheran Digest, Homelife, Parentlife, Mature Living, and numerous others.

Denise speaks frequently for women's retreats, seminars, college lecture series, seminary classes, numerous church groups, Sunday school classes, and pulpit sermons. Her speaking has taken her across the United States: Washington state, Washington D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, Oregon, New Mexico, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and to many others. She has led meetings and retreats across much of the world, including Europe, Japan, and the Middle East.

Denise's work experience includes positions at Old South Church in Boston; Home Mission Board in Boston; First Baptist Church in Chelsea, Massachusetts; and LifeWay in Nashville, Tennessee.

Denise studied journalism at Harvard University and holds a master's of divinity equivalent from Southern Seminary, Ruschlikon Theological Seminary, and Beeson Divinity School. She serves as an adjunct instructor at Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama. She also leads regular Sunday worship services at Galleria Woods Retirement facility in Birmingham.

Denise is married to Dr. Timothy George, founding dean of Beeson Divinity School, at Samford University. She is mother to two children: Christian, age 25 and a third-year student at Beeson Divinity School; and Alyce, age 22, a senior at Samford University.

Her hobbies include spending time in solitude, spending time with friends, reading, writing, traveling, and fishing.
