Rebecca Guillory Gilmer

Get to know Rebecca Guillory Gilmer, one of our Gifted for Leadership editorial advisors.

Rebecca has a deep connection with and passion for the African American community. She is known for her wisdom, wit, creativity, and love for the truth of God's Word. In her 26 years of vocational ministry, Rebecca has addressed audiences across the United States and on the continents of Africa and Europe.

Rebecca currently serves as vice president of The Impact Movement. The Impact Movement answers the call and cry of the African American community for sound and moral leadership that challenges the cultural influences embedded in the music, media, and ultra-materialism of this generation. In addition, Rebecca has served on various boards and currently serves as a trustee of the Winter Park Health Foundation in Central Florida.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Rebecca graduated with honors from Xavier Prep High School. In 1980, she earned a degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Rebecca has been married to Charles Gilmer for over 27 years. The Gilmers have served in ministry at the historically black campuses of Clark, Morehouse, Morris Brown, and Spelman Colleges in Atlanta, Georgia, and at Howard University in Washington, D.C. They have also served in national leadership with the campus ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ.

While she has witnessed the changed lives of many individuals, Rebecca counts among her greatest blessings her marriage and her role as mother of four sons and three daughters: Micah (25), Jared (23), Daniel (21), Karis (18), Caleb (16), Joy (14), and her newest daughter, Jamaica (25) (married to Micah)!
