Virtue Folds

VIRTUE magazine will cease publication after its December/January 2000 issue due to insufficient readership.

Christianity Today. (CTI) purchased VIRTUE from Cook Communications Ministries of Colorado Springs, Colorado, in April 1998 (CT, May 18, 1998, p. 15), bringing to 13 the number of magazines published by the Carol Stream, Illinois–based ministry.

“We found that VIRTUE’s readership was simply not large enough to sustain the economics needed to remain viable,” says Harold Myra, president of CTI.

VIRTUE was launched in 1978 as a magazine that focused on a woman’s relationship with God. Its content included Bible studies, inspirational stories, and profiles.

The final issue will pinpoint the spiritual challenges facing Christian women in the year 2000 and beyond.

“VIRTUE has had a magnificent ministry,” Myra says. “We have invested lots of time and talent and given it our best shot.”

Magazines published by CTI include Coday, LEADERSHIP, TODAY’S CHRISTIAN WOMAN, and CAMPUS LIFE. CTI is located on the Internet at www.ChristianityToday.com.
