DiedPeter Marshall Jr., author of The Light and the Glory and other history books, on September 8 in his hometown of Orleans, Massachusetts. He was 70.

DiedDonald Bloesch, well-known evangelical theologian in the United Church of Christ, on August 24 of complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was 82.

RetiringMorris Chapman, as president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee. Chapman was a significant voice in the SBC Conservative Resurgence.

DiedVernon Grounds, former president of Denver Seminary, on September 12 in Wichita, Kansas. He was 96.

AppointedWilliam Roberts, as National Commander of the Salvation Army USA.

RetiringR. Judson Carlberg, as the seventh president of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts.

ElectedKevin Ezell, as head of the North American Missions Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

AppointedAndrew Scott, as president of Operation Mobilization USA.

DiedGerald Hawthorne, former Greek professor at Wheaton College, at his home August 4 after a battle with skin cancer. He was 84.

ElectedMichael Milton, as chancellor and CEO of Reformed Theological Seminary.

NamedPrince Guneratnam, senior pastor of Calvary Church in Malaysia, to the chairmanship of the Pentecostal World Fellowship during the 22nd Pentecostal World Conference in Sweden in September.

DiedKlaude Kendrick, first president of Evangel University, at his home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was 93.

DiedDaniel T. Sheaffer, founding pastor of Crossroads Cathedral in Oklahoma City, on September 2. He was 80.

AppointedDavid Bainbridge, as the international director of Tearfund.

DiedStanley C. Shenk, professor emeritus of Bible at Goshen College, on September 2 in Goshen, Indiana. He was 91.

DiedJamal Badry, leader of the Music Evangelism Foundation, on August 28. He was 75.

DiedSteven Goldberg, professor of Law at Georgetown University who specialized in religion law, of a heart attack August 26. He was 63.

KilledBiskesan Pradhan, a former Hindu extremist who converted to Christianity, brutally murdered in the Indian state of Orissa. Police are investigating.

NamedElmer Towns, co-founder of Liberty University, to replace Ergun Caner as the dean of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary’s School of Religion.

NamedChristopher A. Hall, as dean of Palmer Seminary of Eastern University. Hall will continue as Eastern’s Chancellor.
