Top tracks: “I Am,” “The Alchemist,” “Ringing in My Head”

Sometimes 15 minutes of fame is just enough. Philmont splashed onto the music scene in 2008 and scored a few radio hits, but by late 2009, they’d lost their record deal and mostly disappeared. But when they announced in September that they needed some money to record a new EP, 107 fans donated over $5,000 at fundraising site Kickstarter.com, enabling the band to lay down six new tracks. It’s good make-ya-smile pop/punk, with God front and center: “I am redemption / I am whole / I am a tragic wreck made perfect by a love I can’t control” (“I Am”).
