Top tracks: “I See God in You,” “Better for the Breaking,” “Defenseless”

On her sophomore album, singer-songwriter Lara Landon teams up with producers Mitch Dane (Jars of Clay), Steve Wilson (Jonny Diaz), and Brian Hitt (MIKESCHAIR), resulting primarily in a piano pop project with an underlying layer of folk. The ten tracks are intentionally sequenced to take listeners on a journey from brokenness to healing, which were inspired by both a missions trip to Haiti and an outreach tour of homeless shelters, women’s rehabilitation centers, and bars. “I See God in You” is the best example of her seeker-sensitivity, and it all shines musically thanks to striking percussion and enchanting vocals that demonstrate grace and maturity beyond her 26 years.
