Top tracks: “Let Our Faith Be Not Alone,” “Miracle,” “Your Love Is Strong”

The third major-label release from the house worship band of Houston’s Ecclesia delivers more of their signature sound, featuring pulsing guitar and Seay’s cozy, raspy vocals. The collection stylistically could have pushed the boundaries of variety a bit more, but Seay’s songwriting shines as lyrics flow both horizontally and vertically. Miracle successfully juxtaposes human pain with spiritual hope and pushes beyond individualism to a broader, even historical, context of following Christ. “Kingdom and a King” notably calls for serving others as an expression of worship. The results provide a personal and communal introspection that avoids trite sing-alongs, but instead brims with authenticity.
