After a short stint with hardcore band Zao and a decade leading emo/alt-rock act The Juliana Theory, Brett Detar's gone solo and completely switched styles to retro country and rootsy Americana. His faith-informed songwriting remains intact, but here includes much soul-searching after temporarily losing his creative passions while burdened by pressures from the industry. Bird in the Tangle serves as his diary, and he's clearly regained footing.
