A bunch of Lord of the Rings (2001-2003) fans got together and made a 38-minute short film called The Hunt for Gollum, the events of which coincide with the early scenes in The Fellowship of the Ring. 2. Sir Ridley Scott and his brother Tony are producing a "prequel" to the Alien series (1979-1997); the original film was, of course, directed by Sir Ridley himself three whole decades ago. There is no word yet on whether the prequel will take place before or after the Alien Vs. Predator movies (2004-2007), which are set in the present day, but those films are arguably non-canonical and thus don't matter anyway.
