Should a church require those in leadership to tithe?

The more important question is, "Should a church require that the hearts of those in leadership are with the church?" Assuming the answer to that question is a resounding "Yes!", and knowing that our heart will be where our treasure lies, one can conclude that giving generously to the church is a legitimate requirement of those in church leadership. The biblical benchmark of the tithe offers a baseline for defining generous giving.

The criteria that leadership should be giving at the level of the tithe as a minimum can be a stated requirement that is made clear to leadership candidates. Individuals can then self-select whether or not they qualify for a leadership position.
