Engaging the Enemy

5 church leaders describe a time when they encountered spiritual warfare

Most Christians acknowledge the reality of spiritual warfare. After all, Paul warned that "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the … powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Eph. 6:12)." The trickier question seems to be, how exactly do we wrestle? How do we—confined by flesh-and-blood bodies in a physical world—wage war in the heavenly realms? We asked a handful of church leaders to share about a time when they encountered spiritual warfare, and what they learned through their experiences.
