Tom Nelson: Language that Affirms Work

A church's language can affirm or devalue its congregants' work.

One of the ways that Tom Nelson began to lead his church through a cultural shift in its theology of faith and work was to change the language in his preaching and to cultivate a new vocabulary within the church itself. A person's language has the power to affirm or devalue, and by creating an environment in which all work is affirmed, a church also begins to lessen the sacred/secular divide.
