I was ordained before I went to my first pastorate about four years after finishing college and seminary. At 68 and retired from full time ministry, I now look back and believe I was most useful for Christ when outside the office of a minister. "Inside" was too confining for me. Give me a Christian on the streets, before one from "inside".

Zach, thank you for sharing this story with us. As someone who went back to school, earned his theological degree at 40 and finds himself not in the position he thought he was called, this article is a wonderful reminder of what it truly means to be like Jesus.
