Since her 2005 release The Builder and the Architect, an album of hymns, Sandra McCracken has revisited hymn composition, and now presents us with perhaps the most beautiful, poignant collection on this side of the century. Chords familiar to the ears of churchgoers weave through lovely soundscapes, producing a comfortable, progressive sound on hymns both old ("Give Reviving," "Amazing Grace") and new. The verses are especially significant as they help bridge the gap sometimes felt between ourselves and our Savior, reminding us that we "are small, but we are filled with breath and life," and we cannot hide from grace.
